General Program Information
In 2010, North Country Rivers is offering the whitewater rafting guide training May 23 - June 3, 2010 (pre-training orientation meets in Bingham, Maine at 3:00PM on May 23); Total cost for the training program is $200.00.
After completion of the Whitewater Guide Training, you will take a written test administered by the State of Maine - Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, upon successful completion of the test, you will receive your license to be a Registered Maine Whitewater Guide, and are eligible to work as a Whitewater Guide for North Country Rivers. The State of Maine charges $103.00 to sit for the test, in addition the State of Maine charges $89 for your guide license, the license is good for three years and can be renewed upon expiration. Total cost for guide training, state testing and the three year state license is $392 ($200+103+89).
Documentation Requirements
To process your registration, North Country Rivers must receive the following from you:
* A North Country Rivers application form (downloadable by PDF below).
* A filled-out Guide Application form (downloadable by PDF below).
* Two copies of your current CPR and First Aid Certifications (provided by YOU).
* A non-refundable payment of $392.00 - by credit card, check or money order. Checks and money orders must be made payable to North Country Rivers).
IMPORTANT NOTES: In order to enroll in the 2010 guide training program, both copies of your CPR and First Aid Certifications must be valid through 2010. North Country Rivers will be holding an all day Advanced First Aid Course & CPR course on March 27, 2010 to help assist in acquiring these necessary certifications. Please call for details.
ONE FINAL REMINDER: DO NOT send application forms to the State of Maine - Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

COURSE OFFERINGS FOR 2010
North Country Rivers 2010 Whitewater Rafting Guide Training:
- May 23 - June 3, 2010, with a pre-training orientation on Sunday, May 23th at 3:00 PM
* Location - Kennebec River Base - 36 Main St - Bingham, Maine 04920
* Participants in our guide training program must supply their own tent, sleeping bag and food. It is common for the trainees to cook meals together, we try to promote self sufficiency and team work. North Country Rivers supplies a camp site, all river gear, transportation during training and an all-star highly qualified training staff.
Advanced First Aid & CPR Certifications:
- Saturday, April 10, 2010 (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
- CPR runs from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
- Advanced First Aid runs from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Advanced Level II Guide Training on the Penobscot River:

* There is no charge for Advanced Level II Guide Training. Only current North Country Rivers staff and Graduates of North Country Rivers Level I training are eligible.
